As it grows larger and stronger, the Roman Empire teaches the Provinces the art of living in Rome. Culture and the arts become a reflection of the Empire. The wealthiest homes bear witness in their architecture and decoration to the high status of their owners.
A visit to the ruins of the Roman villa of São Miguel de Odrinhas and its mosaic pavement are the starting point to this activity.
Participants will learn about the roman mosaic-building technique, utilizing synthetic materials. The aim will be to stimulate a new perspective of roman mosaics and Archaeology.
The new craftsmen will be invited to create their own mosaic, using ancient designs.
6 to 12 year-olds
