Let’s get to know a bit more of the History and curiosities of one of the main holidays of the year – Easter.
In Ancient Rome, at this precise time of the year, offerings would be made to Ceres, the main goddess ruling over the rebirth of Nature that happened with the awakening of spring. So, eggs would be offered as a symbol of fecundity and of the world itself, which the goddess had once again made fertile with the sprouting of cereals.
Today, our Easter recovers that tradition, which dates back to 25 centuries ago!
So, in the end of this activity, all will understand that many of the present-day customs have their origins in the pagan festivals of Greco-Roman Antiquity, and how the old tradition became a part of one of the most important celebrations of the Christian Year.
To decorate eggs to Ceres will therefore be the proposed activity!
